Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support our clinic operations. The role adapts to Level 1, 2, or Sr based on experience, with duties spanning patient care and clinic support in a fast-paced oncology setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, MA certification or eligible, and CPR/BCLS credentials. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, recording vital signs, assisting with procedures, and maintaining patient flow while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Entry-level to senior Medical Assistant positions based on experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is a plus.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, and assist with exams and procedures.
• Record patient data prior to visits, including vital signs and allergies.
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Administer injections as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintain room disinfection protocols.
• Answer calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Place prescription calls and communicate with patients as directed.
• Inform physician of reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform other administrative duties as requested.
