Job summary

Texas Oncology in Austin, TX is looking for a FLOAT Medical Assistant. The role supports the Austin location and offers progression levels (Level 1, 2 or Sr) based on candidate experience.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, MA certification preferred, and experience or certification requirements as described below. The position involves clinical support, patient care, and clerical duties in an oncology clinic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Entry level position; 0-3 years experience as MA or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as MA.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Record patient data prior to visits (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, meds).
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient calls and refer to physician or nurse as needed.
• Enter prescriptions and communicate with physicians/RN.
• Inform physician of reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform additional clerical duties as requested.
