Job summary

Texas Oncology in Austin is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to join our clinic team. This role supports patient care across multiple providers and will adapt to varying conditions throughout the day.

Under supervision, you will assist physicians, manage patient flow, perform clerical tasks, prepare exam rooms, and monitor patient safety. Eligible candidates may be entry level with 0–3 years experience and must obtain BCLS within 3 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistants program preferred.
• Entry level position with 0–3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Records patient data before visits (vital signs, height, weight, allergies).
• Obtains necessary patient records prior to treatment.
• Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies.
• Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administers injections as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintains exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answers patient calls and refers to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Documents prescriptions and coordinates with physicians.
