Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support multiple clinics across Waco, Clifton, Gatesville, Groesbeck, Hamilton, Hillsboro, and Mexia. The role adapts between Level 1, Level 2, and Senior based on experience, with duties covering patient care, exams, and essential clerical tasks.

The ideal candidate will assist physicians, ensure patient flow, and uphold compliance with the US Oncology program while providing compassionate, high-quality care in an oncology setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 0–3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
• Level 2 requires minimum three years experience; Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Level Sr requires minimum five years experience and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Record patient data prior to physician visits (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medications).
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient phone calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist as needed.
• Phone in prescriptions and coordinate with physicians and RN.
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform administrative duties (typing, filing, faxing, chart prep, reception) as directed.

BCLS (within 3 months)

Certified Medical Assistant

0–3 years MA/NA experience

Current BCLS certification
