Job summary

The City of Edina is seeking a Transportation Planner to lead the Transportation Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan, SEMAP, Living Streets, and PACS Fund efforts. The role supports climate goals, traffic operations, and street projects while coordinating with the Transportation Commission and other city divisions.

You will develop sidewalk and bikeway plans, oversee capital improvement prioritization, and serve as the technical expert for multimodal transportation across city programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Design, Engineering, or equivalent or at least four years of municipal transportation planning experience
• Valid driver’s license or equivalent mobility
• Excellent communicator, planner and collaborator
• Ability to gain confidence and trust of public before, during and after project implementation
• AICP/PTP/PTOE/PE certification is desirable
• Experience in pedestrian and bikeway planning and/or project design
• Knowledge of MMUTCD and state/federal transportation standards and processes

Responsibilities

• Administers the Transportation Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan, SEMAP, and Living Streets program.
• Develops and updates plans for sidewalks and bikeways and prioritizes projects.
• Coordinates implementation of multi-modal transportation strategies in the Climate Action Plan.
• Manages the PACS Fund budget and reporting.
• Oversees planning and design of traffic operations and reviews development plans for traffic standards.
• Liaises with Edina Transportation Commission and coordinates non-motorized facilities marketing.
