Job summary

STV, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Civil Engineering Specialist to support planning and design of transportation improvements across Hampton Roads, including transit stations, roadways, and multimodal projects.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and planners from concept through final design and construction support, applying standards such as VDOT, AASHTO, and ADA while using MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 3–5 years of progressive transportation, roadway, transit, or civil infrastructure design experience.
• EIT/EI certification preferred; PE licensure pursued is encouraged.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards, AASHTO guidance, ADA requirements, and related design practices.
• Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D.

Responsibilities

• Support development of civil and transportation design plans for transit, roadway, and multimodal projects.
• Prepare design drawings, sketches, calculations, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assist with alignments, ADA improvements, corridor layouts, and transportation design elements.
• Coordinate with roadway, transit, drainage, traffic, structural, environmental, and construction teams.
• Apply design standards to deliver practical, constructible solutions using specified tools.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client coordination.
• Support schedules, budgets, submittals, and quality reviews while growing technical skills.
