Job summary

The Guardian is seeking a Multimedia Systems Developer to join the Multimedia team. You will build and operate the production platform used by multimedia teams to create and publish audio and video content across UK, Australia and US offices.

You will work on in‑house apps, AWS infrastructure and media management systems with Go, TypeScript, React and Electron. You will collaborate with engineers, editorial staff and external vendors, maintain reliability and scale, and contribute to design

Qualifications

Proven experience as a software developer or systems engineer.
Strong programming in at least one modern language from the stack (Go, TS, React, Electron).
Experience with AWS and building event-driven architectures.
Familiarity with Linux, Git, CI/CD and code review workflows.

Responsibilities

Collate, design, develop, configure, test and release software for the multimedia platform.
Build and operate event-driven services on AWS.
Maintain AWS infrastructure and automation behind the platform.
Diagnose and fix bugs using log-based troubleshooting and performance analysis.
Collaborate with editors and engineers to evolve the roadmap as required.
Proactively share knowledge and document technical work.
