Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University seeks an Event Technician to provide in-classroom technology and A/V support across the university. You will assist faculty, staff, and students with equipment, software, and service issues, and help ensure events run smoothly.

Responsibilities include setup/strike of A/V gear, troubleshooting, live streaming support, and producing user guides. Prior experience in education and relevant CTS/MTA/Apple certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; education may substitute with related experience as allowed by policy.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime is required.
  • Experience in educational environments is preferred.
  • CTS, MTA, Apple ACMT/ACTC, and CompTIA Security+ certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide AV and classroom technology support to clients, responding to requests.
  • Record, prioritize, and track help calls in a ticketing system.
  • Diagnose problems and resolve incidents affecting events and classes.
  • Set up and strike A/V equipment for events in classrooms and lecture spaces.
  • Assist live and pre-recorded productions and webcasts at multiple locations.
  • Develop and share user training for students, faculty, and staff on A/V resources.
  • Update internal documentation and create client help guides.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and coordinate warranty repairs with vendors.
  • Test and QA presentation systems and conferencing software; stay current with tech trends.
  • Coordinate with multimedia staff on hardware repairs and upgrades.
