Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead during live shows, operating mixing consoles, video switchers, and lighting boards to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Deploy audio, video, and streaming equipment across campus venues and outdoor spaces as needed.
  • Perform routine testing, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on inventory to keep gear in peak condition.
  • Act as a liaison with clients/event organizers, translating visions into concrete technical plans and equipment layouts.
  • Maintain warehouse control: check gear in/out, log damages, manage repairs and track consumables.

Job description

Serving as the primary technical lead for campus programming, the AV Support Technologist manages the audiovisual requirements for both internal university functions and external guest events. This role delivers end-to-end technical support across a diverse range of campus venues, ensuring flawless execution from the initial equipment setup and live event operation through to the final breakdown. This position reports directly to the Director of Technology Support in the Information Technology Department.,Responsible for deploying audio, video, and streaming equipment across lecture halls, student unions, and outdoor campus venues. Following classes or special campus events, you will ensure all temporary gear is safely struck, neatly organized, and securely returned to the department. Your attention to detail ensures that both daily academic instruction and special university functions are set up for success.

As the technical lead during live shows, you will actively operate mixing consoles, video switchers, and lighting boards to ensure seamless event execution. You will need to think on your feet to manage live audio levels, transition presentation slides, and instantly resolve any technical hiccups without the audience ever noticing.

Will perform routine testing, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on our inventory to keep all technical equipment in peak operating condition. When unexpected issues arise, you will utilize your deep understanding of signal flow to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot the root cause. Your proactive technical care will directly prevent live system failures and extend the lifespan of our valuable gear.

Serves as the technical liaison for clients and event organizers, conducting site walkthroughs to understand their vision and requirements. By translating their ideas into concrete technical plans, you will recommend the best equipment packages and stage layouts for their specific audience and venue. Your expert guidance will ensure we allocate the right resources and set accurate expectations long before the day of the events.

Maintain strict control over equipment warehouses by accurately checking gear in and out, logging damaged items, and managing repair shipments. Will track consumable supplies like batteries and tape to ensure the production team is always fully stocked. This crucial administrative oversight keeps our day-to-day operations running smoothly and protects our capital investments.

Other duties as assigned,

  • An associate's degree and four (4) years of relevant experience. Appropriate industry certifications or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years' experience.
  • Experience with audio visual equipment, classroom technology, computer deployment and imaging systems.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams for special projects.
