Job summary

The Multilingual Learner Lead Teacher at Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will serve as an instructional leader, building capacity of ML educators through coaching, professional learning, and collaboration to strengthen language instruction for ELs district-wide.

Responsibilities include providing ESL-focused PD, modeling and co-teaching, reviewing student data with teachers, guiding the ESL plan and SIP, and leading district meetings to advance second language acquisition and literacy for

Qualifications

• Must hold a clear, continuing Professional Educator's License in ESL K-12.
• Spanish proficiency preferred for communication with families and students.
• Three or more years of successful teaching experience; coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental professional development for ESL teachers via observations and coaching.
• Coach, model, and co-teach to support language instruction and SIOP best practices.
• Review student ESL data with teachers to inform planning and program evaluation.
• Lead district needs assessments and contribute to long-term growth plans for EL services.
• Present research-based strategies for second language acquisition to staff.
• Attend district meetings and collaborate with ML/DL/WL Director and leaders.
