Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Coordinating Teacher, Multilingual Learner Curriculum, to provide supplemental ML curriculum support to teachers and administrators. You will develop, monitor, and evaluate ML materials and oversee LIEP plans, coordinating district and school initiatives under the Executive Director of Federal Programs & ELL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education with ESL emphasis.
• Minimum of three years teaching experience.
• Valid NC Teaching certification in ESL required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
• Assist schools in administering the state-identified English Language Proficiency (ELP) tests.
• Plan and implement a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of assigned students.
• Support effective ML curriculum and instruction implementation at schools.
• Support and monitor the implementation of school-based LIEPs and completion of individual ML Plans that include specific instructional strategies and student learning goals and classroom modifications.
• Aid schools in using ML data to make instructional and programmatic decisions.
• Design and deliver effective professional development for teachers and administrators to address the unique linguistic and academic learning needs of MLs, instructional resources, federal and state guidelines, and related materials.
• Collaborate across departments such as Learning and Teaching Services, Accountability, and Instructional Technology to support effective ML instruction.
• Model effective instruction for MLs in both classroom and professional development settings.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in accordance with goals established by the district.
• Sort, organize, and distribute curriculum materials from the CMS warehouse as needed.
• Perform related work as assigned or required.
