Job summary

Merchants Capital Corporation in Chicago, IL seeks an Asset Manager to oversee a portfolio of multifamily loans, ensuring loan terms compliance and strong credit monitoring. You will perform financial analyses, monitor risk, approve extensions and modifications, and coordinate with Capital Markets on refinancing options, while delivering excellent client service.

This role is an individual contributor with no direct reports, requiring at least 3 years in real estate asset or portfolio management

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of industry experience required in real estate asset or portfolio management.
• Organized, detailed-oriented approach to work with a personable demeanor to deliver high-quality customer experience.
• Problem-solving skills with a self-start mentality under deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with active listening.
• Strategic, creative thinking with ability to interpret data for risk management.
• Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, real estate or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage borrower relationships on a portfolio of multifamily loans.
• Monitor loan terms and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Review quarterly financial analyses for all deals in portfolio.
• Review and approve draw requests and escrow disbursements.
• Ensure hedge and cap compliance for interest rate hedges.
• Conduct covenant compliance testing and credit analysis for extensions/modifications.
• Escalate issues to Credit Committee and exec management.
• Risk-rate all loans quarterly; perform site visits as needed.
