Job summary

Merchants Capital is seeking an Asset Manager for Interstate/IRE Asset Management to oversee a portfolio of multifamily loans, ensure compliance, and optimize asset value through risk assessment and strategy execution. This role is client-facing and contributes to credit policy and loan performance.

The position emphasizes loan extensions and modifications, cash management, and collaboration with the Loan Origination and Capital Markets teams. At least two years in asset management preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of industry experience with emphasis on asset or portfolio management.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, real estate or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented approach with customer-focused service.
• Problem-solving with ability to analyze data and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Manage borrower relationships on a portfolio of multifamily loans.
• Monitor loan terms, compliance, and risk across the portfolio.
• Review financial analyses and approve draws, escrow disbursements, and hedges where applicable.
• Support loan modifications, extensions, and exit strategies; assist with coordination with borrowers and investors.
• Perform quarterly risk rating and site visits as needed.
• Collaborate with origination and capital markets teams on refinancing strategies.
