Job summary

Episcope Hospitality is seeking a Staff Accountant in Chicago, IL to support accounting operations for a fast-growing multi-unit hospitality group. This role reports to the Controller and focuses on accurate financial reporting, general ledger integrity, month-end close, and cross-location accounting support.

The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume hospitality environment with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple locations and deadlines simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience (restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail preferred).
• Experience with accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks Online, Restaurant365, NetSuite, Sage, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple locations and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Reconcile daily sales reports and POS systems across multiple restaurant locations.
• Review and analyze location-level P&Ls for accuracy and variances.
• Assist operations managers with financial reporting questions.
• Review/code invoices and ensure proper expense allocation.
• Prepare and file city/state monthly sales tax returns.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
• Ensure deadlines are met for timely financial reporting.
