Job summary

Frontline Wildfire Defense is seeking a highly experienced Safety Manager to design, implement, and scale a multi-state safety program across field operations. This builder-minded leader will partner with Legal, Operations, and regional teams to standardize safety practices and foster a proactive safety culture.

Based in Southern California (LA/OC/IE), the role is hybrid with frequent travel across CA and beyond, focusing on regulatory compliance, contractor oversight, and scalable safety

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of safety management experience in field-based environments.
• Experience supporting rooftop work with fall protection requirements.
• Proven track record in building and scaling company-wide safety programs.
• OSHA Outreach Trainer certification (OSHA 500 or equivalent).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholder influence.
• Proficiency in Google Suite; familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) and compliance tools.
• Experience in incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field; certifications as noted.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable multi-state safety program with policies and frameworks.
• Continuously evolve safety standards to meet regulations and growth.
• Lead company-wide safety culture with training programs and toolbox talks.
• Develop standardized safety training curricula and materials.
• Implement audits and inspections across regions to ensure consistency.
• Define and track safety KPIs (TRIR, incident rates, near-misses).
• Lead incident investigations focusing on root cause and systemic improvements.
• Collaborate with Legal on subcontractor safety requirements and documentation.
• Oversee contractor qualifications and compliance tracking.
• Support market expansion with regulatory readiness and onboarding.
