Job summary

Rural/Metro Fire in Huntsville, AL seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll for a 24/7, multi-state workforce with strict confidentiality and compliance. You will work with ADP Workforce Now and UKG Pro to ensure accuracy and timely processing.

Responsibilities include tax filings, W-2s, garnishments, CBAs, and audits, while coordinating with HR and Finance to maintain data integrity and streamline processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years with third-party payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now and/or UKG Pro preferred.
• 3+ years of compliance experience with federal and state payroll regulations.
• 3+ years of multi-state payroll tax processing and filings.
• 2+ years managing deductions and garnishments.
• 2+ years of payroll audit and risk management experience.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle payroll for 1,200+ multi-state employees weekly and bi-weekly using ADP Workforce Now.
• Ensure IRS and state payroll law compliance across 20+ states.
• Manage payroll tax filings, amendments, and W-2/W-2C processing.
• Support onboarding, terminations, promotions, and union dues in UKG Pro.
• Review pre-tax and post-tax deductions including benefits and garnishments.
• Assist payroll audits and maintain risk-management documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance for payroll journal entries and GL reconciliations.
• Maintain integrations between ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, and other systems.
• Provide accurate payroll reports and respond to inquiries.
