Job summary

Southern Energy Credit Union in Birmingham, AL seeks a Facilities Superintendent to oversee maintenance, safety, and appearance of all facilities across multiple states. You’ll manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and contractors, coordinate renovations, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

The role requires travel to branch locations, strong project management, and the ability to communicate effectively with management, vendors, and employees.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in electrical systems, HVAC, or related field preferred.
• Analytical and project management skills are required.
• High discretion and judgement in vendor communications.
• Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems and code compliance.
• Willingness to travel 20–30% between branch locations.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, functionality, cleanliness, and overall appearance of all Credit Union facilities across multiple states.
• Ensure branch buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscaping, and exterior areas are safe and professionally maintained.
• Coordinate general facility maintenance: lighting, minor plumbing/building repairs, equipment maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems with seasonal startup and winter shutdown procedures.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other building systems for proper operation and timely repair.
• Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs for facility systems and equipment.
• Manage facility-related construction: new branch construction, renovations, updates to acquired buildings.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and services; ensure safe, efficient work per standards.
• Respond to facility emergencies and after-hours maintenance as needed.
• Prepare annual reports for branch projects within the assigned budget.
• Travel regularly between branch locations to assess conditions and needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
