Job summary

ICMS is seeking a Chief Engineer (Facilities Engineering Management) to lead the technical operations of a federal campus in Birmingham, AL. This working supervisor role covers facility operations, maintenance, and repairs, with responsibility for training journeymen and apprentices and ensuring safety and contract compliance.

The ideal candidate will have deep HVAC/MEP experience, a decade in facility operations, EPA 608 and advanced certifications, and a track record of preventive maintenance

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years in facility operations and maintenance with Troubleshooting expertise.

• EPA 608 Certification is required.
• 3
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills; ability to train personnel.

• Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• 6
• Willing to respond outside normal hours for emergencies.

• Security clearance to Public Trust level preferred.
• 8
• Government contracting experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise O&M tasks at multiple facilities.
• Train and monitor MEP personnel in operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of building equipment.
• Maintain training and certification records.
• Oversee Preventive Maintenance Program scheduling, execution, and documentation.
• Perform Critical Equipment inspections and report findings to management.
• HVAC repairs including seals, refrigerant handling, motor replacements, controls, sensors, and leaks.
• Boiler repairs including seals, leaks, motor replacements, and controls.
• Troubleshoot pumps including seal and shaft replacements.
• Manage BAS for troubleshooting and energy/water efficiency.
• Conduct daily facility tours and address issues.
• Monitor properties for safety, taking corrective action when needed.
• Troubleshoot all facility equipment for quick resolution.
• Read contract specs and drawings to ensure compliance.
