Job summary

Geauga County Public Library is seeking a Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot and repair GCPL facilities and equipment, inspect buildings, vehicles, and equipment, and coordinate service scheduling with Mobile Services supervisors and vendors. This role also serves as the primary backup for the Delivery Driver position.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and strong mechanical, carpentry, and electrical skills.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills required.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to drive and maneuver GCPL vehicles.
• Mechanical skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, vehicle, and HVAC.
• Ability to service small motors on landscape equipment.
• Knowledge of basic shop tools (table saw, circular saw, drill press).
• Landscaping skills, commercial mowers and equipment.
• Roofing knowledge and ability to walk/work on a roof.
• Painting and drywall repairs.
• Willingness to work in a challenging environment.
• Ability to carry out tasks timely.
• Must wear GCPL clothing as a neat uniform.
• Safely observe all PERRP procedures.

Responsibilities

• T roubleshoots and makes repairs related to GCPL facilities and equipment.
• Performs bookmobile inspections and repairs.
• Works with outside contractors and vendors.
• Performs vehicle inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.
