Position Summary:
Troubleshoots and makes repairs related to all GCPL facilities and
equipment. Performs building, vehicle, and equipment inspections, and addresses related
concerns. Helps coordinate scheduling of Mobile Services vehicles for service with Mobile
Services supervisors and outside vendors. Primary backup for Delivery Driver position.

- Performs bookmobile inspections and make repairs.
- Works with outside contractors and vendors.
- Performs vehicle inspections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Good verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills required (email and word processing).
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to drive and maneuver GCPL vehicles.
- Mechanical skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, vehicle, and HVAC.
- Ability to service small motors on landscape equipment.
- Working knowledge of basic shop tools, such as table saw, circular saw, drill press, etc.
- Landscaping skills, commercial mowers and equipment.
- Roofing knowledge and the ability to walk and work on a roof.
- Painting and drywall repairs.
- Willingness and adaptability to work in a challenging work environment.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Required to wear GCPL clothing as a work uniform, that is to be kept neat and clean.
- Safely observe all PERRP procedures.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license is required to operate library-owned vehicles and an acceptable driving record must be maintained at all times.
- Successful completion of a background and MVR checks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, stretch, walk, crawl, and/or kneel in order to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to pick up and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Ability to work from step and extension ladders of varying heights.
- Ability to maneuver in and out of the back of a cargo vehicle.
- Ability to operate objects, tools, or controls including computers, phones, and office equipment.
- Competence in completing tasks that involve reading or visual inspection, with or without visual aids.
