ConocoPhillips is seeking a Multi-Skill Operator/Lease Operator (Nights) for the Midland Basin. The role emphasizes safe, efficient oil and gas production in field settings with a 12-hour night shift and 7-on/7-off rotation.

On-site operations require strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability across wells and facilities in the Midland, TX area. Applicants with oil and gas experience are welcome, though not required; training and support are provided to grow in the role

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Current/valid driver’s license.
• 1+ years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment operation, or inspection.
• Able to meet the physical demands and outdoor field environment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field operations across assigned wells and facilities in Midland, TX area.
• Inspect tanks, meters, separators, compressors, and pipelines for leaks or issues.
• Gauge tanks to measure oil and water levels for transfers.
• Operate and troubleshoot compressors, gas lift wells, sand traps, and flowback equipment.
• Maintain chemical injection rates and execute start-up/shut-in procedures.
• Enter and validate production data in digital systems.
• Participate in safety reviews and regulatory documentation.
• Update P&IDs and site security documentation.
• Respond to alarms and fulfill on-call duties.

Job Summary

ConocoPhillips holds approximately 416,000 net acres in the Midland Basin, located in west Texas. The current development strategy is focused on full-field development utilizing multi-well pad projects targeting Barnett, Spraberry and Wolfcamp reservoir targets. We operated three rigs and one frac crew on average during 2025, resulting in 86 operated wells drilled and 94 operated wells brought online.

During 2025, net production averaged 192 MBOED.

Position Overview

At ConocoPhillips, our Lease Operators—known internally as Multi-Skill Operators (MSOs)—play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable oil and gas production across our assets. This field-based position offers the opportunity to work independently in dynamic outdoor environments, using your mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to make a real impact.

As a frontline contributor to our operational excellence and safety culture, you’ll be empowered to make decisions, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure production targets are met—all while driving innovation and continuous improvement in the field. This is a Night Shift position.

Your responsibilitiesmay include:

• Perform daily field operations across assigned wells and facilities in the Midland, TX area , monitoring equipment and production performance to ensure safe, reliable flow and timely response to operational needs
• Inspect tanks, meters, separators, compressors, and pipelines to identify and prevent leaks or operational issues
• Gauge tanks to measure crude oil and water levels for safe and efficient transfers
• Operate and troubleshoot compressors, gas lift wells, sand traps, and flowback equipment
• Maintain chemical injection rates and execute well start-up/shut-in procedures
• Enter and validate production data in digital systems to support accurate reporting and decision-making
• Participate in facility walk-throughs, safety reviews, and regulatory documentation
• Update piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) and site security documentation
• Respond to alarms and fulfill on-call duties to minimize downtime and resolve field issues
• Apply all safety, environmental, and company policies to protect personnel, assets, and the environment

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Current/valid driver’s license
• 1 or more years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment operation, or inspection
• Able to meet the physical demands and work environment requirements of the position, as described in the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Requirements

• 1 or more years’ experience in oil and gas production or health, safety, and environmental (HSE) roles
• Associate’s degree or trade certification in Production Technology or a related field
• Computer and data entry skills
• Responsive to visual and auditory signals, alarms, and instructions

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• This is a Safety Sensitive position
• This position is a night shift schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts, with a rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off
• Outdoor work in remote locations with exposure to varying weather conditions, including temperature extremes
• Frequent walking, bending, stooping, climbing (up to 24 feet), and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
• Regular use of hand tools for minor repairs and equipment adjustments
• Frequent driving between multiple sites in a company-provided vehicle
• May involve working alone for extended periods
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety protocols
• May require weekend work and participation in on-call rotation responsibilities
• This position is assigned to field operations near Midland, TX – candidates should carefully consider the daily travel and remote nature of this role prior to applying
