Job summary

The MRI Technologist I at Advocate Health performs MRI procedures in line with departmental protocols and operates MRI scanners and related equipment with high proficiency, including post processing, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and monitoring gear.

They verify orders, identify patients, prepare them with explanations, collect medical history, review EMRs, and assist during invasive procedures while following radiation safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ARRT-recognized Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • MRI ARRT registry eligibility or ARMRIT program.
  • MRI registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Examines requests and verifies orders with radiologist input when needed.
  • Properly identify patients and prepare them with explanations of procedures.
  • Interviews patients for medical history and reviews EMRs for pertinent data.
  • Performs MRI scanning and assists physicians during invasive procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of MRI safety for staff and patients and follows safety policies.

Education

Graduate of an ARRT-recognized Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology program
MRI ARRT registry eligibility or ARMRIT program
CPR certification
