Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAHEA approved program in medical imaging with at least one year of related diagnostic imaging experience.
• Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist.
• Certification with ARRT, NMTCB, or RDMS.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic MRI examinations as directed.
• Reads charts, prescriptions and MRI requests to verify valid physician orders.
• Ensures proper patient identity prior to MRI procedures.
• Explains procedures to patients and ensures quality MRI services.
• Lifts and moves patients with assistance.
• Ensures films are of acceptable quality and reviewed by Radiologist.
• Informs supervisor of problems encountered during testing.
• Documents all testing procedures and maintains records.
• Collects statistical data as requested and maintains records.
• Operates MRI equipment to ensure accurate results.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
• Reports any malfunction to the supervisor.
• Performs quality control on equipment and maintains related records.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment and new developments in the area.
• Orders and stores MRI supplies as needed.
• Performs procedures during unscheduled hours as needed for emergency care.

Education
