Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an MRI Technologist for the Radiology Department to perform MR exams on outpatient, inpatient, and pediatric patients. The role supports the MRI Imaging Center Leader and teaches technologists in MR scanning, safety, and protocol optimization.

This 100% onsite position is based in the greater Chicagoland area, with duties including QA, equipment checks, and cross-coverage when the imaging team leader is absent.

Qualifications

• Formal training in MR scanning and ability to apply knowledge of physics and system hardware and software to obtain the highest quality images.
• Competency to perform high quality MR exams and to educate all technologists in MRI equipment.
• Progressively advanced imaging experience as an MRI technologist.
• Proficient with MRA, Peripheral, post processing workstation, Cardiac, Pediatric, Neuroradiology, abdominal, musculoskeletal, thoracic, procedural, and breast imaging.
• Knowledge of PACS, EPIC and Radiant.
• Current ARRT MR certification.
• Advance MR certification or plan to obtain ARRT within one year of hire.
• Current CPR Registration.

Responsibilities

• Perform MR scans as trained and maintain competency for MR procedures.
• Review MRI safety information and screen patients before exams.
• Coordinate exams requiring Radiologist involvement and evaluate completed exams for quality.
• Ensure accurate data entry in RIS and proper verification of exams.
• Educate other technologists on PACS/process and ensure images are saved in PACS.
• Develop collaborative relationships with physician leadership in the MRI section.
