Job summary

Sanford Health in the United States is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform diagnostic MRI exams, ensure patient safety, and provide high-quality patient care. The role includes operating MRI equipment and collaborating with physicians and care teams across our rural health network.

Qualifications include AMA/JRCERT‑approved Radiologic Technology training and ARRT/ARMRIT certification (or equivalent). On-site work may involve on-call rotations, weekends, and holidays per site needs.

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA or JRCERT approved program.
  • MRI training or experience preferred.
  • ARRT or ARMRIT certification required at time of hire.
  • MRI certification or certification within two years post-hire preferred.
  • If working in North Dakota, licensure through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board required.
  • In Iowa, technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within six weeks of employment and recertified as required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic MRI exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in procedures and MRI safety.
  • Initiates life support measures as necessary.
  • Interacts with patients, families, physicians and healthcare workers.
  • Has extensive knowledge of operation of MRI equipment.
  • Positions the patient for comfort during the exam.
  • Administers contrast material as required.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical indication for MRI study.
  • Accurately documents in patient records.
  • Utilizes EMR software for scheduling and billing procedures.
  • Develops understanding of patient physical and emotional status.
  • Extensive knowledge of cross-section anatomy.
  • Works well with patients of all ages.
  • On-call rotations may be required at Sanford Rural Health Network facilities.
  • May perform mobile imaging, EKG, cardiac monitor placement, and DEXA procedures.
