Job summary

Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY seeks an MRI Technologist per diem to perform routine and advanced MRI procedures with emphasis on patient comfort and safety. You will educate patients, maintain EMR documentation, and support radiology operations during shifts and on call.

The role requires NYS licensure in Radiologic Technology, ARRT-R certification, and injection certification as applicable, with strong communication and customer service skills. Per diem schedule covers evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or a hospital certificate in Radiologic Technology.
• NYS license in Radiologic Technology or eligible for licensure within six months.
• ARRT-R certification within 6 months of employment.
• NYS Injection Certification within 6 months of employment, if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and advanced MRI procedures with patient safety in mind.
• Educate patients about the procedure and maintain a comfortable environment.
• Provide on-call coverage for MRI, document exams in EMR, and ensure accurate records.
• Administer IV contrast media and ensure competency in orientation/recertification.
• Operate PACS and transfer imaging data for archiving and processing.
• Coordinate with Radiologists and other modalities for smooth patient flow.
• Assist with patient transport and monitor status during exams.

JOB TITLE: MRI TechnologistSTATUS: Per DiemLOCATION: Unity Hospital - 1555 Long Pond Road Rochester, NY 14626DEPARTMENT: Unity MRISCHEDULE: Evenings, 8 hours, 2pm-1030pm, weekend rotation requirementSUMMARYAs an MRI Technologist, your ability to empathize with patients, specialized technical skills, and dedication to quality, greatly enhances the overall success of MRI imaging for diagnostic use in patient care in RRH Radiology. Performs technical and specialized skills in the operation of a Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Scanner to produce high quality cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes, while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients undergoing these procedures.RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms a variety of routine and advanced MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) procedures in the presence of a strong magnetic field while monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety.Educates patients regarding their procedure and maintain a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for the patient throughout the exam.Maintains accountability for timely and proper service to patients during unsupervised shifts.Provides on-call coverage for MRI Section of Radiology.Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the Radiant Care Connect EMR.Cleans restocks and prepares rooms on a daily basis.Provides excellent customer service.Verify patient identification and order/requisition; utilizing clinical indications to assess the appropriateness of procedure and consulting with the provider/radiologist for order verification, as needed.Administers IV contrast media (they must also be competency assessed on orientation and/or annually).Trained in PACS software and transfers imaging data for archiving and post-data processing.Follows direct orders from Radiologist or referring provider for MRI imaging and contrast administration via protocol.Receives verbal orders and documents appropriately in the EMR.Collaborates with all modalities for mutual patient flow.Performs transport duties as needed.Monitor patient status; notify nurse/physician in changes of patient condition.Appropriately maintains all MRI and accessory equipment.All other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSA.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or completion of a Radiologic Technology hospital certificate program.New Graduates:Official transcript from accredited school or letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation.Primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date.Required Licensure/Certification:NYS license in Radiologic Technology required OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) required within 6 months of employment.NYS Injection Certification within 6 months of employment.
