Job summary

Corewell Health seeks an MRI Technologist to join the MRI St Joseph - Niles and St Joseph Hospital team. The role involves operating MRI equipment, preparing patients, and ensuring high-quality imaging for diagnosis. You will work evening shifts with a 40-hour week and participate in patient care and safety protocols.

Required credentials include ARRT MRI or ARMRIT, and related ARRT/ARDMS/NMTCB certifications as applicable, plus BLS within 90 days. A competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field.
• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
• MRI ARRT certification required on hire OR ARMRIT certification.
• Various ARRT/ARDMS/NMTCB certifications required on hire as applicable.
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient history and ensures information is available to practitioners.
• Prepares patients and provides instructions to obtain optimal results and minimize anxiety.
• Operates MRI system, coils, gating devices, and related equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
• Prepares/administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates image quality and transmits data to PACS for permanent records.
• Maintains clean work environment and reports equipment issues promptly.
• Works under supervision and follows established protocols.

Job description

Job Summary

Provides health care services, applying pulsed radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

Essential Functions

• Verifies patient’s clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner.
• Completes proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
• Selects and operates magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
• Prepares/administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assures proper identification is evident.
• Maintains a clean work environment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department unit personnel.
• Assignments are routine; follows established protocols. Works under close supervision, seeks guidance where needed; requires some instruction on day-to-day work and resolves routine problems.
