Job summary
Corewell Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MRI procedures, prepare patients, and ensure high-quality imaging. You will operate MRI systems, manage contrast administration, and verify data quality for PACS filing.
Role requires ARRT/MRI related credentials, BLS, and the ability to work under supervision with strict protocol adherence. Evening shifts at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
- Preferred Bachelor's degree.
- Multiple ARRT/ARDMS/NM certifications required or upon hire.
- Two-year MRI-related credential requirements may apply.
- Basic Life Support certification required or equivalent.
- All listed certifications must be obtained upon hire or as specified.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient clinical history and ensure documentation is accessible.
- Prepare patients, obtain consent, and minimize anxiety pre-procedure.
- Operate MRI system, coils, and related equipment to image the target area.
- Prepare/administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality and push to PACS for permanent record.
- Maintain clean work area and report equipment malfunctions.
- Follow established protocols under supervision and resolve routine issues.

Job description
Up to $20,000.00 in incentives for eligible candidates.
Provides health care services, applying pulsed radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
- Verifies patient’s clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner.
- Completes proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Selects and operates magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Prepares/administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assures proper identification is evident.
- Maintains a clean work environment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department unit personnel.
- Assignments are routine; follows established protocols. Works under close supervision, seeks guidance where needed; requires some instruction on day-to-day work and resolves routine problems.
