Job summary

RAYUS Radiology in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a MRI Technologist for a temporary/PRN role. You will operate MRI scanners to produce diagnostic images, screen and prepare patients, and ensure safety and high-quality imaging under professional standards.

The position requires ARRT/ARMRIT registration, AMA-approved radiography education, current state licensing, CPR certification, and the ability to perform MRI procedures independently. Prior imaging safety training is essential.

Qualifications

  • ARRT/ARMRIT registration in good standing is required.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved radiography program.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Training and experience to competently perform MRI procedures independently.
  • Certification in imaging specialty is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients before exams for precautions or contraindications using two patient identifiers.
  • Explain and prepare patients for MRI procedures and positioning.
  • Perform routine and advanced MRI procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Adjust MRI scan parameters as needed and according to physician orders.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the RIS and follow safety regulations.
  • Keep the work area clean and promote safety for patients and coworkers.
  • Maintain the ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining imaging protocol manuals and software upgrades.
  • Monitor imaging supplies and request replenishments as needed.
  • Assist with training new associates and share technical resources.

Job description

Position Overview

RAYUS Radiology is looking for an MRI Technologist to join our team. As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologist, you will operate your assigned scanner(s) to produce diagnostic images of the patient's body. You will provide MRI services within professional standards, ensuring excellent customer service and guiding patients through the process.

This is a temporary/PRN position working varied shifts.

Key Responsibilities (90%)
  • Screens patients before exams for precautions or contraindications, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure.
  • Explains and prepares patients for MRI procedures, including procedure details and positioning.
  • Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated body parts for use by physicians with minimal supervision, while providing patient support throughout the procedure.
  • Adjusts MRI scan parameters correctly and as needed.
  • Follows physician orders precisely, complies with safety regulations, and accurately maintains patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work area, promoting safety for patients and coworkers.
  • Maintains the ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements.
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
  • Assists in maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades.
  • Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as needed.
  • Assists with training new associates, providing resources and technical expertise as applicable.
Required Qualifications
  • ARRT or ARMRIT registered technologist, current and in good standing.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiography.
  • Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Training and experience sufficient to competently perform MRI procedures independently.
  • Certification in imaging specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (any language).
