Position Summary

The MRI Technologist performs age-specific MRI procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Responsibilities include demonstrating correct anatomy through proper positioning, protocol selection, and scanner options, understanding contrast media administration, and maintaining equipment and quality control. The role involves working with patients of various age groups, from infancy to geriatrics, and requires collaboration with medical staff and participation in departmental activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review physician orders and consult with radiologists as needed.
• Perform MRI procedures tailored to patient age, ensuring quality imaging.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and perform safety inspections.
• Accurately document patient information and procedures for billing.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and prepare patients for procedures, including sedation when necessary.
• Participate in professional development, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities.
• Operate MRI equipment and provide instruction to staff and students as required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
• Previous radiologic experience required; cross-training in CT and MRI preferred.
• Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT(R)) or pending, with additional registry in CT and/or MRI preferred.
• Current radiation operator’s certification issued by Kentucky required.
• CPR certification within thirty days of hire.

Physical and Work Environment

The role requires lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and over 50 pounds occasionally. The work environment is well-lit, climate-controlled, with moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
