Position: MRI Technologist

Schedule: Full Time, evenings, 7am-7:30pm, rotating Saturdays

Position Summary:

The MRI Technologist performs age-specific MRI procedures for diagnosis and treatment of anatomical and physiological disorders. Competencies are based on patient age groups, including infancy, toddler, pre-school, school age, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adult, late adult, and geriatric. The MRI/CT/Radiologic Technologist reports to the Manager of Diagnostic Procedures (CT/MRI) and is responsible for core behavioral and technical competencies. Technical supervision is provided by the Manager, Diagnostic Procedures, and medical direction by the Radiologist. This position involves 12-hour shifts with rotating Saturdays.

Responsibilities:

1. Review physician orders and consult with radiologists as needed.
2. Greet patients, identify them, and explain procedures.
3. Perform MRI procedures appropriate to patient age, including correct positioning, protocol selection, and scanner operation. Administer contrast media as necessary.
4. Maintain inventory, perform equipment maintenance, and conduct quality control activities.
5. Update patient records, document conditions, and verify billing information.
6. Coordinate scheduling with nursing and anesthesia departments for sedation cases.
7. Participate in professional development, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities.
8. Operate MRI equipment and ensure diagnostic quality of procedures.
9. Provide instruction to students and staff as required.

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
• Previous radiologic experience required; cross-training in CT and MRI preferred.
• Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT[R]) or pending registration.
• Current radiation operator’s certification issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• CPR certification required within thirty days of hire.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Must be able to sit, use hands, communicate effectively, and have close vision for reading and computer work. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and over 50 pounds occasionally. Work environment includes good lighting, climate control, and moderate noise levels.
