Job Summary

Up to $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants! 12-hour evenings & every 3rd weekend days. This posting reflects an opening for an MRI Technologist I. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels, including MRI Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform MRI procedures, acquire, and analyze data needed for diagnosis, and interpret results in collaboration with licensed practitioners. They also prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared, and clinical history is documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols and optimize technical factors, maximizing patient safety and care, applying ALARA principles.
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications as prescribed.
  4. Evaluate images for quality and proper positioning; verify storage and transfer of data.
  5. Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  6. Apply MRI safety principles to minimize risks.
  7. Assist with MRI interventional procedures.
  8. Perform MRI procedures as prescribed.
  9. Select pulse sequences considering protocols and data acquisition factors.
  10. Participate in MRI safety implant investigations and approvals.

Work is performed in a clinical environment. All job-specific obligations and organizational policies must be followed. Additional department-specific skills may be required.

Position Requirements

Certifications required upon hire:

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board)
  • ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists)

New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB certification before starting. Hired applicants after March 10, 2024, must achieve level 2 certification within 24 months.

Education & Experience

Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required). Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 1 year related work experience preferred.
