Job Description

Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Explains procedures to patients, positions and immobilizes patients on exam tables, and observes during scans under physician supervision. Monitors video displays and adjusts density or contrast to improve image quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs thorough screening of patients prior to procedures.
• Ensures no metal objects accompany patients into the exam room.
• Checks patient creatinine levels and calculates GFR to determine IV contrast suitability.
• Reviews and ensures accuracy of screening forms, including IV contrast information.
• Explains procedures and prepares equipment accordingly.
• Obtains necessary consent forms for IV contrast.
• Performs various MRI procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, implant planning, radiation therapy planning, biopsies, etc.
• Prepares and positions patients on the exam table within the gantry.
• Enters patient history and relevant information from requisitions.
• Performs related duties as required; all essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Job Qualifications

• Vocational or technical school diploma required.
• Current license to practice as a Radiology Technologist in New York State required.
• Current ARRT Radiology registration and necessary certifications required.
• 1-3 years of technical experience required.
• Flexible hours, including 8.5-hour shifts within operating hours: Monday - Friday (6:30 am - 10 pm), rotating weekends (Saturday & Sunday 8 am - 5 pm), with 1-2 late night shifts per week.
• Ability to travel to locations in Woodbury and Merrick.
• Additional note: ARRT MRI Technologist certification with a $10,000 sign-on bonus (half paid at 6 months, remainder at 12 months).
