Job Description

Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Explains procedures to patients, positions and immobilizes patients on the exam table, and observes during scans under the direction of a physician. Monitors the video display of the area being scanned and adjusts density or contrast to improve image quality.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Performs thorough screening of patients prior to procedures.
  2. Ensures no metal objects accompany patients into the procedure room.
  3. Checks patient creatinine levels and calculates glomerular filtration rate (GFR) to determine if patient can receive IV contrast material.
  4. Reviews and ensures accuracy of screening forms completed by patients, including the IV contrast information sheet.
  5. Explains procedures and sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
  6. Ensures that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained.
  7. Performs MRI procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy planning, biopsies, etc.
  8. Prepares patients for exams by placing and positioning them on the exam table within the gantry.
  9. Enters patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from requisitions completed by radiologists, including the anatomical area of interest.
  10. Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Job Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical school diploma, required.
  • Current license to practice as a Radiology Technologist in New York State, required.
  • Current ARRT Radiology registration, required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience, required.
Additional Details
  • MRI Technologist ARRT - $10,000 Sign-on Bonus (half paid at 6 months, final payment at 12 months)
  • Flexible hours, 8.5-hour shifts within the operating hours listed below.
  • Ability to work within the hours: Monday - Friday (6:30 am - 10 pm), rotating weekends (8:30 am - 5 pm).
  • Hiring for locations including Lynbrook, Merrick, Garden City, Rockville Centre, Woodbury, Smithtown, Bohemia, Port Jefferson, and others on Long Island.
  • Traveling between locations is REQUIRED.
