This job maintains safety in the MRI environment while assessing patients and safely performing routine MRI procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
Required – 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.
Preferred – Clinical MRI experience.
Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
ARRT registered or unlimited state license, or certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) with an associate or bachelor degree in allied health, or ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT registration as an MR technologist with no experience. Advanced certification in MRI required within two years of employment. Preferred - Advanced certification in MRI recognized by the ACR Registry.
Other responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws and standards, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to the employer's policies. The physical and environmental demands include heavy physical exertion, exposure to blood and body fluids, and working directly with patients and potentially hazardous materials.
