Qualifications

  • 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience required.
  • ARRT registered or equivalent certification needed.

Responsibilities

Job Description

This job maintains safety in the MRI environment while assessing patients and safely performing routine MRI procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education

Required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

Required – 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.

Preferred – Clinical MRI experience.

Certifications

Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

ARRT registered or unlimited state license

OR

Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) with associate degree or bachelor degree in allied health field

OR

ARRT, ARMRIT OR CAMRT registered as an MR technologist with no experience.

Advanced certification in MRI required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry required within two years of employment.

Preferred - Advanced certification in MRI required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality, work efficiently and calmly under pressure, and be self-directed without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules (nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, etc.) and travel between facilities.
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics of blood flow related to disease states.
  • Ability to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on published criteria.
  • Assist physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
  • Provide care and support services respecting patient's age, social, spiritual, and cultural needs.
Job Duties
  • Verify physician order and procedure accuracy.
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures as per protocol (including IV placement).
  • Review images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Perform quality control procedures in accordance with standards and notify/remediate as needed.
  • Assist in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication needs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
