Job Description

The MRI Tech 1 arranges patients for Magnetic Resonance examinations. Working under the guidance of MRI Tech 2 or above, produces MR images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Monitors and ensures the safety of patients and all personnel prior to entering the magnetic area. Performs patient screening using established protocols for ferrous materials, medical device history, and safe contrast media administration. Uses departmental imaging protocols to perform safe operation of imaging equipment. Provides pre- and post-education to patients and families. Reports to the Manager or Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Skills: Apply radiologic/MRI principles, anatomy, and pathology to optimize examinations. Teach radiography principles to students as required.
  • Patient/General Safety: Communicate effectively with patients, explain procedures, answer questions, assist physicians, and identify and resolve clinical or emergent issues. Ensure patient safety with proper equipment use and monitor for adverse conditions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe environment, operate and calibrate equipment per manufacturer specifications, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Documentation/Communication: Accurately identify and track patients, participate in departmental initiatives, and report incidents.
  • Magnetic Resonance Safety: Maintain safety and integrity of the magnetic environment, conduct inspections, and ensure proper screening.
  • Other Duties: Act as backup for colleagues, complete additional assigned duties, and adhere to organizational standards.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
License & Certification: Current State License, ARRT (R), or Registry Eligible, or current LSRT temp license, and BLS HCP certification.
