Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will educate patients on MRI procedures, safely administer IV contrast, and ensure accurate documentation in EMR and PACS systems.

The role requires prior MRI experience, strong safety knowledge, and excellent customer service in a diverse setting. PRN scheduling in Day shift at Winter Garden, FL location. Florida licensure and ARRT/MR certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed MRI training program and be capable of performing MRI procedures.
• Knowledge of MRI safety standards and patient safety protocols.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new imaging technologies.
• Strong customer service orientation and teamwork in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready; routine safety checks on equipment.
• Educate patients about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety measures.
• Position patients properly to achieve high-quality images.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast following safety guidelines.
• Perform daily QC checks per department policies and regulatory requirements.
• Document patient history and consent; verify exam appropriateness and contraindications.
• Operate MRI scanners, injectors, and monitors as per protocols.
• Maintain accurate EMR/PACS documentation and support continuous education.

Job Description:

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
• Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
• Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
• Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
• Other duties as assigned.
