Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring an MRI Technologist to join our radiology team in Littleton, CO. The role involves screening patients, administering IV contrast, and performing high-quality MRI exams under physician orders.

You will educate patients on MRI safety, maintain equipment and documentation in EMR/PACS, and collaborate with nurses and physicians. A minimum of 1 year radiology experience and ARMRIT/ARRT certification are preferred, with BLS.”

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program.
  • ARMRIT or RT(MR)(ARRT) certification required with BLS.
  • Ability to follow department policies and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use with equipment safety checks.
  • Educate patients about MRI procedures and safety precautions.
  • Position patients and administer IV contrast following safety guidelines.
  • Perform daily QC checks and document in EMR/PACS.
  • Review patient history and screen for MRI safety and contraindications.
  • Operate MRI scanners, injectors, and monitors per protocol.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with other duties as assigned.

Job Description:
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]
