Job summary

AdventHealth in Riverview, FL is seeking a Magnet MRI Technologist to join our imaging team. You will be responsible for preparing exam rooms, educating patients on MRI procedures, and performing high-quality scans in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires knowledge of MRI safety, patient positioning, IV contrast administration, and strong documentation in EMR/PACS. Florida licensure and ARRT MR certification are preferred; 1+ year experience is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year radiology experience or MRI training program.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • ARRT MR or ARRT certification required or in progress.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use and that equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Educates patients about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably for high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material and monitors for adverse reactions.
  • Performs daily QC checks and documents results.
  • Follows safety and identification protocols before exams.
  • Maintains EMR and PACS documentation and image quality.
  • Operates imaging equipment safely and adapts protocols as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:


  • $5,000 Sign On Bonus for eligible candidates

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.

  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.

  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).

  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.

  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]

  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]

  • Excellent customer service skills [Required]

  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required]


Education:


  • Associate [Preferred]

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]


Work Experience:


  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Required]

  • Experience with I.V. insertion [Preferred]
