Job Summary

The MRI Technologist provides safe, quality patient care by performing MRI imaging using appropriate coils and techniques as directed by a Radiologist. Responsibilities include preparing and operating MRI equipment, screening patients and personnel, positioning patients correctly, recording diagnostic images, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Essential Functions
  1. Follow department policies and safety standards, including MRI safety screening and incident reporting.
  2. Perform MRI procedures according to protocols, adjusting sequences for different body parts and specialty work such as pediatric and dynamic scanning.
  3. Monitor supplies, manage orders, and document patient information accurately.
  4. Administer IV contrast following protocols and assist patients in exam procedures, addressing anxieties and privacy concerns.
  5. Coordinate patient flow, communicate wait times, and work collaboratively with staff to optimize scheduling.
  6. Operate MRI equipment safely, troubleshoot errors, and train other technologists as needed.
  7. Ensure high-quality imaging and proper documentation in PACS and Meditech systems.
  8. Adhere to MRI safety policies, including ACR guidelines, and maintain infection control standards.
  9. Possess expert knowledge in MRI procedures, including specialized scans, and operate related equipment proficiently.
  10. Complete all documentation accurately and ensure images are transferred correctly to PACS.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Certified in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • At least 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist; training others is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MRI accreditation processes.
Licenses and Certifications
  • ARRT certification and CPR required.
  • MRI certification required.
