Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an MRI Technical Assistant in Springfield, MA to support radiologic staff in exams and interventional procedures. You will prep patients, explain procedures, and help transfer and position patients as needed, maintaining safety and confidentiality.

You will work closely with technologists, residents, and attendings, ensuring a smooth patient experience, accurate documentation, and efficient operation of the radiology department in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET required.
• Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
• Certified Medical Assistant or Nurse Aide/ EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics, orient to changing area.
• Assist radiology team in exam rooms and with procedures.
• Call patients from waiting area and explain procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist in patient transfers and lifting.
• Provide wait time updates and accompany patients as needed.
• Clean rooms per infection control.
• Observe health and safety policies.
• Assist with bathroom needs.
• Participate in department projects and team communications.
• Handle transport equipment and IV poles.
• Use computer software (Teletracking, Safety and Injury Reporting, Cerner, Radnet, Synapse).
• Stock supplies and manage laundry as needed.
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.
• Perform clerical tasks: scheduling, report retrieval, image retrieval.
• Assist technologist with interventional biopsy exams.
• Prepare exam trays for biopsy procedures.
• Support technologists, residents, and attendings before, during, and after procedures.
