Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant to support our MRI services across multiple Massachusetts locations. The PA will collaborate with radiologists and MRI staff to deliver safe, high-quality care, performing arthrograms, managing contrast, and guiding pre- and post-procedure care.

Requires MA PA licensure, NCCPA certification, and BLS; ACLS preferred. Travel between Shields MRI sites will be needed to meet patient care demands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher for MA licensure.
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current MA Physician Assistant license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification preferred or required per Shields Health policy.
• Must meet all credentialing and privileging requirements.
• For fluoroscopy-guided arthrograms: MA requirements compliance or training completed.
• Previous arthrograms/image-guided experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical knowledge to provide safe, compassionate care.
• Performs patient assessments, review history, allergies, meds, labs; assess contraindications.
• Verifies orders and clinical information prior to procedures.
• Performs arthrograms and image-guided procedures within scope and privileges.
• Administers contrast media and other meds per protocols and laws.
• Obtains informed consent and provides pre/post-procedure care and education.
• Monitors patients during procedures and manages adverse reactions.
• Communicates with radiologists and MRI technologists about patient needs.
• Documents assessments, procedures, meds, and contrast in medical records.
• Maintains infection control, safety, and HIPAA compliance.
• Escalates to supervising radiologist for any concerns.
• Maintains competencies and site-specific privileges; travels as needed.
• Performs other related duties within PA scope as assigned.
