Shields Health is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant to support our MRI services across multiple Massachusetts locations. The PA will collaborate with radiologists and MRI staff to deliver safe, high-quality care, performing arthrograms, managing contrast, and guiding pre- and post-procedure care.
Requires MA PA licensure, NCCPA certification, and BLS; ACLS preferred. Travel between Shields MRI sites will be needed to meet patient care demands.
Shields Health is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant to support our MRI services at our Brighton, Dedham, Framingham, Brockton, and North Dartmouth, Massachusetts locations. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with supervising radiologists, MRI technologists, and other members of the clinical team to provide safe, high-quality patient care associated with MRI diagnostic services. Primary responsibilities include performing arthrogram procedures, administering contrast agents, assessing and preparing patients for procedures, obtaining informed consent, and providing pre- and post-procedure care. The PA will practice in accordance with Massachusetts laws and regulations, applicable physician supervision and practice guidelines, Shields Health policies, and site-specific clinical privileges. This will be a per-diem opportunity.
Demonstrated proficiency in performing arthrograms and related image-guided procedures. Strong patient assessment and clinical history-taking skills. Knowledge of contrast media, including appropriate use, contraindications, precautions, and management of adverse reactions. Understanding of MRI safety principles and screening requirements. Knowledge of radiation safety and fluoroscopy practices when performing fluoroscopy-guided procedures. Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations. Knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and procedural safety. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-centered bedside manner. Strong attention to detail, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work independently within established clinical privileges while collaborating effectively with supervising radiologists, MRI technologists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Understanding of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and healthcare compliance requirements. Ability and willingness to travel among assigned Shields Health locations based on staffing and operational needs.
The pay range for this role is $48-$66/hour.
