Job summary

Atrium Health University City is seeking an MRI Technologist I to perform MRI exams, prepare patients, and ensure imaging quality. You will operate MRI scanners, manage IV contrast, and coordinate with radiologists to deliver accurate results.

Qualifications

• Understanding and application of radiology safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Examine requests and verify orders; refer to Radiologist for discrepancies.
• Identify and assist patients, explain procedures, and document on worksheets.
• Interview patients for medical history and review EMR to obtain clinical context.
• Manage exam from start to finish, ensuring proper documentation and turnaround.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast per protocol and record usage.
• Evaluate image quality and consult Radiologist for adjustments; perform additional reconstructions as needed.
• Perform MRI procedures with sterile technique and assist during invasive actions; follow infection control.
• Adhere to radiation safety guidelines to protect staff and patients; report equipment issues.
• Maintain clean, stocked work areas and operate radiology computer systems for orders and charging.
• Assist anesthesia and other staff during MRI-related procedures as needed.
• Maintain MRI safety knowledge for staff and patients around magnetic fields.
