Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking an MPS Planner in Sandusky, MI. This full-time role focuses on master production scheduling, materials planning, and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.

You will coordinate with operations, procurement, and suppliers to ensure aligned demand, capacity, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in planning/purchasing, a BS/BA, and APICS certification, with strong communication and Lean manufacturing knowledge.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree, APICS certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of Planning and/or Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of MRP, JIT, and Kanban methodologies
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools
• Experience supporting production planning and materials management
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and supplier partners

Responsibilities

• Plan, release, and reschedule supply orders to align demand, capacity, and material availability
• Manage customer order commitments, order acknowledgments, delivery dates, and expedite requests
• Own material planning activities for assigned products and purchased components
• Execute supply planning and procurement strategies to support production requirements
• Maintain planning attributes and master data within ERP systems
• Coordinate return-to-vendor activities as needed
• Improve on-time delivery, inventory health, and lead-time performance through proactive planning
• Work closely with suppliers to resolve shortages and supply-chain disruptions
• Partner with procurement, manufacturing, scheduling, and operations teams to support production goals
• Support cost reduction, sourcing, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Analyze planning metrics and inventory trends to improve operational performance
