Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is looking for a Highway Maintenance Specialist to support the Montrose area and the I-70 Mountain Corridor. You will perform heavy equipment operations, snow plowing, debris removal, and sign installation, working in a team with rotating shifts and weather-dependent schedules.

Required is a valid CDL Class A or B and at least two years of physical labor or heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower
• Mowing grass and weeds
• Removing debris from roadways and culverts
• Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt
• Digging ditches
• Installing and repairing guardrail, signs, lighting
• Filling potholes and roadway cracks
• Setting out signs and cones for traffic control
• Maintaining equipment and doing minor repairs
• Following safety guidance and wearing PPE
