Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska is seeking Mountain Host professionals to join our team. If you’re a strong communicator and love the mountains, this role puts you at the heart of guest experience and safety on the mountain.

As a Mountain Host, you’ll engage with guests, lead mountain tours, assist with directions, set up information boards, and help maintain a safe, fun environment in all weather. A high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude that supports Alyeska’s commitment to quality guest service.
• Thorough knowledge of Alyeska Resort including on-mountain services, ski trails, and lifts.
• Ability to ski or snowboard in various snow conditions.

Responsibilities

• Be proactive in public relations to enhance the guest experience on the mountain.
• Maintain high level of communication and teamwork with staff and other departments.
• Assist guests with directions, information, and public relations at mountain locations.
• Set up ski information boards, ski racks, and picnic tables.
• Remove snow with shovels or snow blowers as needed.
• Assist with lift-down situations and line control at lifts.
• Lead 1-hour mountain tours twice daily.
• Be an ambassador at lift locations to promote Alyeska Resort.

We’re looking for Mountain Host professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska.

WhatYou’llDo

As a Mountain Host, your role istobeproactive in public relations to enhance the Guest Experience while visiting Alyeska. Mountain Hosts emphasizea high levelof communication and teamwork among themselves and with other departments across the resort, creating a positive presence on the mountain by interacting with guests in a professional manner including appearance, conduct, and attitude.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Help build a culture of safety and fun on the mountain.
• Be prepared to perform assigned duties in severe weather including, but not limited to, high winds, heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and rain.
• Assist guests in the arrival and departure of parking lots and base facilities;assist guests with directions, information, and public relations.
• The Mountain Host team will set up ski information boards, ski racks, and picnic tables.
• The Mountain Host team will remove snow with shovels or snow blowers.
• The Mountain Host team will be asked to perform line control at lifts andassistwith lift-down situations.
• Lead 1hourmountain tours twice during the day.
• Be an ambassador at all lift locations during the day to provide information and promote Alyeska Resort and all available product offerings.
• Maintain vigilance for a safe mountain experience by monitoring mountain ski runs for injured guests and/or guests needing assistance. This monitoring includes notifying mountain dispatch of anyone needing help and staying with the individual until ski patrol arrives.
• Maintain updated knowledge of products and services available to guests and staff across Alyeska Resort and the local community.
• Attend and participate in Mountain Host team meetings.
• Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance the guest experience wherever possible.

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high altitudes, and extreme weather conditions.
• The position requires the employee topossessexcellent skiing ability and have the capability to ski or snowboard in a variety of variable snow conditions.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

What to Expect

• Be on alert and at times, on your feet forlong periods, including nights, weekends, & holidays.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment.
• Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort andspecial events.
• Physical demands: Ability to lift up-to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time.
• Work Environment: This role occasionally involves extended hours, nights, and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. Operating within a dynamic, fast-paced guest-centric setting, you willmaintaina high level of interaction with staff, guests, and stakeholders.
