Job summary

Johnson County Government is seeking a Motor Vehicle Specialist to support the Treasury, Taxation & Vehicles Department. The role involves helping customers complete motor vehicle transactions, reviewing documents, and guiding them through titles, registrations, renewals and related processes.

Responsibilities include data entry, cash handling, fee collection, solving customer issues, and promoting self-service options such as the renewal kiosk.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year of customer service; 1 year of cashiering or money handling experience.
• A bachelor’s degree and experience in regulatory industries (finance, pharmaceutical, or insurance) are also preferred.
• Education or experience substitutions may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with motor vehicle transactions and review documentation for accuracy.
• Perform data entry into computer systems and proofread information.
• Explain titles, registrations, renewals, and other motor vehicle requirements to customers.
• Collect forms and supporting documents, review for accuracy, and route to appropriate staff.
• Resolve issues by researching and offering solutions and escalating unresolved problems as needed.
• Handle payments, cash, credit cards, and checks, and conduct preliminary audits of cash handling.
• Encourage use of self-service renewal kiosk or drop-off service options.
• Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers and assisting with self-service options.
