Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Eden Prairie, MN to design and develop motor control electronics across all product lifecycle stages. Key tasks include design specification, simulations, PCB layout guidance, BOM creation, and documentation.

The role requires proficiency in firmware development, Embedded C, and RTOS, with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; MS in Electronic Engineering is desirable. Onsite in Eden Prairie with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Master of Science in Electronics Engineering is desirable.
• Experience in power electronics products such as inverters, DC-DC converters, and switching power supplies.
• Working knowledge in the design of conditioning and sensing circuitry for adjustable speed drives.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development activities of motor control electronics through all stages of the product development life cycle.
• Participate in designing motor control electronics ranging from low voltage DC products to 120/240Vac line powered products and including 480Vac industrial products.
• Write design specifications, perform design analysis and simulations, capture circuit schematics, and participate in design reviews.
• Guide the PCB layout process and create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly drawings.
• Oversee prototype, engineering validation, design verification, and agency certification phases of projects.
• Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.
• Implement OEM-specific hardware or software feature requirements in existing and new products.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including design requirements, BOMs, test procedures, drawings, software documentation, test reports, and manuals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to introduce designs into production on schedule, including creation of test specifications and collaboration on test equipment.
• Work with PCB designers to ensure schematic, part library, component placement, and trace routing are done correctly.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, motor design, and application groups to optimize product designs for low cost and high quality.
• Support the quality group in failure analysis and recommend design and process changes to improve product quality.
